The new match saw Mohamed Salah, yet again, making a stellar performance for Liverpool by enabling his team to win in their latest match in the Premier League. However, on account of his masterclass at the pitch, the Egyptian striker said that it is going to be “far away” for the talks of his renewal with the club.
The current deal of Salah with the club lasts until the summer of 2025, and talk of speculation over the future of the striker has got fans and pundits talking. Salah addressed the current buzz in a post-match interview. “At the moment I’m focusing on making the team better. I’m happy here, as far as a new contract goes it’s far away.” He said.
The 31-year-old winger featured with goal and two assists in the most recent Liverpool victory, helping the team achieve such a dominating win. The showing continues to create importance for the team. Thus, it left uncertainty around his deal as a pressing concern for fans.
Club’s Position
According to Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, Salah is a leader both on and off the pitch, and the club is keen to secure long-term arrangements with the player while taking note of the cost involved. Given the enormous value Salah currently carries as one of the highest-paid soccer players at Liverpool, an extension would require considerable investment.
Probably, it’s signs of a relation between the two. The fans become worried that the star player would not fend off interest from other top clubs. There is nothing surprising about elite teams in and out of Europe and even in Saudi Arabia being linked to the forward star, for he possesses over 200 goals for Liverpool.
Now, however, Salah stands firm with the present season’s goals of Liverpool. “There’s still a lot to play for, and my priority is winning with this team,” he affirmed. But then again, the future is uncertain, so fans of the club would have to wait for clarity over one of the jewels of their asset collection.
